We want to provide every child that attends Woodentops a wonderful early years experience full of fun, awe and wonder. We cater for children aged between 2 and 4 years old. Our children leave us to go to Potton Primary, Wrestlingworth school, Sutton School, Everton Heath school and Gamlingay Village Primary to start in their Reception classes. We invite all these schools in to meet the children in the Summer term.

We are based at the Potton United Football Clubhouse on the outskirts of Potton. We are nestled between the beautiful surroundings of Pegnut Wood and the Boundary café.

We have areas set up in our room where children are encouraged to help themselves to the toys so developing their self confidence, independence and extending the activities set out by our well qualified and experienced staff.

We have two gardens and use a free flow system where possible so children are able to access outdoors throughout their day. This encourages children free choice about where they would like to play and what with. The smaller garden has a mud pit and kitchen and is also our growing area where we have grown flowers, potatoes, carrots, beans, tomatoes, onions, and many different herbs. The larger garden has a selection of toys and equipment that the children are able to help themselves to, to enhance and develop their play. It also has a small covered area so we can continue outside play in all weathers. The children learn to independently put on their waterproofs and wellies when we have inclement weather.

We can take up to 32 children per session and are open Monday to Thursday term time only from 8am to 4pm. Children are offered a ‘rolling’ snack in the morning and afternoon. Rolling snack is where we have a table with 6 places set up, the children help themselves to snack after finding their name and then wash up their plate afterwards, supervised by staff. The snack bar is open for around 45 minutes and the children are able to continue with their play only breaking off when they need their snack. Children are reminded that the snack bar will be closing so they can make a choice about whether to have a snack.
